 THE SECRET

To Rowan Radice

Here, below unending night

Lay a verse like buds of roses

'pon silken bed of spirit glosses

Nightly secret by two kept

Much my soul in life has wept

Much the pain that I've endured

Much the sorrow has ensued

Doleful sighs on slumber set

Yet the thing with you I've met

It's the secret, worth of pain.

Here the secret I present

Be you witness to my heart

Need not ears for this to start

Need not skin for this to feel

For the secret is untold

And the secret is unseen

In the flesh it is not felt

Yet in soul its mark has left

What's the secret, hear you ask

Secret, say I, can't be told

For the secret is no word

Secret is a secret feel.

Feel my eye upon your eye

Feel my kiss upon your kiss

Feel your words that turn to bliss

Feel the love between us nigh

Nigh, so nigh

Close so much 'tween you and I

And then see my iris straight,

lock me right into your sight

And the secret shall be there.

For the secret is so secret

Cause it's us.

Us, and us, and only us.

Low, like a whisper

But there, like a ghost

of something that has been

and will be.

Beyond the world, yet still in it,

In the dark, when no one looks

When we are, there 'tween us two,

Forever, our thing.

Our secret.
